MSN 2020
The 16th International Conference on Mobility, Sensing and Networking (MSN 2020)
Tokyo, Japan on 17 - 19 December 2020

1st International Workshop on Mobile Sensing with Radio, Light, and Acoustic (MSRLA)

in conjunction with MSN 2020, Tokyo, Japan on 17 - 19 Dec. 2020

Call for Papers

Various ambient signals have been established as a powerful medium for ubiquitous sensing, which quickly becomes an active cross-disciplinary research area that involves wireless communication, signal processing, human-computer interaction, machine learning, and even hardware design. The explosive progress in mobile sensing, especially contactless sensing provides another dimension to design and develop solutions and systems for many intelligent sensing problems. This workshop provides a forum for academic researchers and industry practitioners to exchange the most recent progress in mobile sensing applications.

The workshop solicits submissions from areas relating to mobile sensing with ambient radio, light and acoustic signals to solve problems in contactless and non-intrusive sensing models and algorithms, AI-driven sensing applications and solutions for all related fields. The interested topics include but not limited to:

  • New platforms and hardware designs for sensing systems
  • Various sensing systems, including camera, WIFI, RFID, radar, acoustic, etc.
  • Device-free and non-intrusive sensing
  • Sensing data analysis, process and management
  • Models for contactless sensing, understanding, and adaptation
  • AI-enabled sensing algorithms and systems
  • Security and privacy in sensing environment
  • Sensing applications, including vital sign sensing, gesture recognition, activity sensing, etc.
  • Systems for location, tracking, context sensing and awareness
  • Non-traditional topics that bring new perspectives to mobile sensing

Submitted papers must be written in the English language, according to IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Format (double column, 10pt font, letter paper) and submitted in PDF file format. Use the standard IEEE Transactions templates for Microsoft Word or LaTeX formats found at: The manuscript (including figures, tables, appendices, references) should be no longer than 6 pages and at least 4 pages. Submitted manuscripts must not contain previously published material or be under consideration for publication in another conference or journal. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published in the IEEE Xplore digital library (indexed by EI). At least one author of any accepted paper must register and present the paper at the conference.
